Google Launches eBook Affiliate Program

Google is offering website publishers another way to earn revenue through the official launch of its ebooks affiliate program. Affiliates can link to Google eBooks on their websites and earn a commission for referring sales to the Google eBookstore.

Google began testing the program in December with Goodreads, a social reading site. Beginning June 17, any site can apply for the program and become part of the Google Affiliate Network and can opt to use the Google Books APIs.

Updated: Google Launches Ebook Affiliate Program; Rate Higher Than Amazon's

Google (NSDQ:GOOG - News) has launched a program that allows website owners to earn commissions for referring sales to the Google eBookstore, Google Books product manager Pratip Banerji announced on the company’s blog today.

Google had previously tested the program with social reading site Goodreads and is now rolling it out to bloggers, authors, and anybody else with a website.

Becoming a Google E-books affiliate is a three-step process. Users have to sign up for a Google AdSense account and be approved, then join the Google Affiliate Network program and be approved, and then sign up as an e-book affiliate.

The E-book Affiliate Branding Guidelines are here (PDF). For instance, affiliates have to use the official Google E-books favicon (that’s it illustrating this post) whenever they mention Google e-books.

Update: Google E-Books referral fees range from 6-10% of a book’s selling price, depending on the volume of books sold through affiliate referral. The fees are based on purchases made by users directed to Google E-Books, independent of whether the referral goes directly to a book or to the front page of the Google eBookstore.

Amazon (NSDQ:AMZN - News) already has an affiliate program called Amazon Associates. Its fees vary based on volume and range from 4 to 8.5 percent for books and Kindle books, products, and accessories.

Google launched its eBookstore in December 2010 as part of its Google Books initiative. It’s currently partnered with 7,000 active U.S. publishers and over 250 retailers (mainly independent bookstores) selling Google eBooks from their stores and websites. As we noted last month, it is not yet a major player in the e-book market.

Affiliate Program Management eBook Released - 5 Steps to Success

Roswell, GA (PRWEB) March 23, 2011

Greg Hoffman, an award winning outsourced program manager (OPM), released a 40-page ebook on the essentials of affiliate program management, affectionately called Affiliate Management for Ma, Pa and the Corporate Clueless.

Tips and tricks on affiliate management exist in hundreds of places on the internet but Hoffman saw an immediate need for merchants to learn from a quick start guide. The affiliate management ebook is meant to help educate prospective new merchants or those that may have recently launched a program on a major network such as ShareASale or Commission Junction.

"When a company finds out about affiliate marketing and is ready to start driving more traffic to their shiny new product, most of them launch without a strategic plan or a manager with enough knowledge about the industry to make an impact," Hoffman said. "I wrote this so the merchants could have as much information ahead of time as possible."

One of those facts is that affiliate marketing is a way to supplement sales, not start them, he adds. The best example used in the ebook is that a successful affiliate launch typically yields 10% to 20% new customers within 6 months of launch. Hoffman understands that there are many exceptions to this rule but he wants the readers to understand that unrealistic expectations can kill a program very fast. Merchants need to have a long-term strategy in place and be open minded to suggestions about how the program is managed, including opinions from the affiliates in the program, he said.

The ebook has more than a dozen sections including the basics of affiliate marketing, the five steps for success, worksheets, checklists and end of the month report templates.

"If you wanted a one-on-one consultation for your program, you could expect to spend at least $500," says Eric Nagel, a full-time affiliate and consultant. "Yet because this e-book isn’t specific to your program, and you don’t have an OPM holding your hand, you can get the same information for just $97. You’ll just have to fill out the worksheets yourself, to get the same value."

The guide covers 5 Steps to form a strategic plan for an affiliate program before, during and after its launch. Here are the steps:
????How to prepare the product and the site for affiliate traffic ????How to competitively structure the program????What technical tools are needed for the program????What are the fundamentals of program management????Keeping the program relevant and successful

The Diesel eBook Store Launches Their New and Improved Affiliate Program

Richmond, VA (PRWEB) March 14, 2011

The Diesel eBook Store (http://www.diesel-ebooks.com), one of the leading independent eBook stores, officially launched their new Affiliate Program featuring an intelligent ad generator and aggressive commission package. Affiliates earn 10% on each referral and get to keep the customer for a full 90 days. Most eBook programs only pay on the 1st sale and mandate that a referral cycle through the affiliate’s site again for a commission to be paid on a future sale. The Diesel program is unique in that it enables affiliates to “own” the customer for 90 days.

“Our new program provides an unprecedented opportunity for any site wanting to monetize their traffic with eBook sales. With a few clicks, an affiliate can now virtually have their own eBook store,” said Scott Redford, President and Founder of Diesel-eBooks.com.

In addition to a range of banners and textual links, Diesel features a state-of-the-art cover widget generator. Affiliates can generate topical or author specific galleries featuring one to 50 eBook covers. For example, a sewing website could feature their own eBook store focused entirely on sewing eBooks. Search tools enable affiliates to tailor their galleries by category, title or author.

The ability to open customer service tickets directly through the Affiliate program has also been added.

Affiliates receive additional value from the program through Diesel’s use of SEO safe affiliate links that go directly to category and display pages rather than a 3rd party affiliate system. Real time status reports are provided in order that affiliates can track their results and payments.

2011 is turning out to be an exciting year for this eBook retailer. In December 2010, Diesel-eBooks.com launched its new eBook retailing platform and is unique in the marketplace for their expanded categories and their ability to host customer created bundles. Their new site also boasts a suite of new features such as the “Deal of the Day”, social networking, video integration, access to over two million free eBooks via partnerships with Google and a new and improved search engine.

Along with their new Adobe Content Server (ACS4), Diesel-eBooks is now able to host, encrypt and fulfill eBook titles from their own servers. They recently signed direct deals with such publishers as Dorchester, E-Reads, Macmillan, O’Reilly and Smashwords, to name a few.

Affiliate Programs - Top 5 Ways to Promote an Affiliate Program Ebook Product

One of the areas that I choose to do affiliate marketing in is information marketing. In particular, I like promoting eBooks since they provide easy of use, low cost, great information, and can be instantly obtained for reading by the customer. Over the years, I have tried different ways of promoting eBooks in different niches and have found that some ways are more successful than others.

I am going to give you the list of the top 5 ways I have been using to promote affiliate eBooks over the years. Now I am not saying that these are the best ways to promote affiliate eBooks but they have worked really well for me. There are other ways of promoting affiliate eBooks but I will not focus on those for now.

Top 5 Ways I Use To Promote Affiliate eBooks

1. Create And Host A Web Site Specific To That eBook.

When I find a really successful affiliate eBook, I like to create and host a web site that is specifically dedicated to the particular eBook. Now I only do this when the eBook is really well written and delivers on the promises made in the pitch page, the author has a good reputation, the eBook has good reviews from customers, the sales rate is high, and there is a high profit margin based on each sale. Sometimes I have found books that are out of my standard niche area but they meet my criteria and have sparked my interest. Almost every time, these eBooks has turned out to make me good money. So don't just limit yourself to one niche if you do happen to come across one that you think will work for you.

2. Create And Host A Web Site That Is A Directory of eBooks Associated With The Topic Of The Affiliate eBook

A few times I have created web sites that are more of a directory style that gives the user a list of different eBook products they can select from. Now I usually do this with the idea of promoting one or two main eBooks. So the web site has a list of eBooks associated with the affiliate eBooks' topic but I put the affiliate eBook at the top of the web site along with detailed reviews and other information on the eBooks that I am promoting. A few times, I have even gotten the eBook authors to allow me to provide the first chapter of the eBook along with additional information on the eBook that I use to help sell the eBook.

3. Create and Host A Blog That Is Dedicated To The eBook Or eBook Niche Topic

I personally like creating and hosting a blog that is dedicated to an eBook or eBook niche topic. For example, I was promoting a great eBook on Credit Repair. So I created a quick blog on the topic of Credit Repair and provided blog posts on the eBook and general posts on about Credit Repair. Other times, I have created a blog focused on one eBook that provided reviews, feedback, and an interview from the author about the eBook. I found these two techniques to be very successful when I found the right book to promote.

4. Submit An Article To An Ezine Directory About The eBook Or The Topic Of The eBook

Another pretty easy way to promote an Affiliate eBook is to write a small article (300-700 words) that you submit to an ezine directory. The article should focus on the topic of the eBook and lead the reader to your recommendation on the Affiliate eBook. Now some ezine directories will not let you put an Affiliate link in the article but will allow you to put in a write up about yourself with a link to your web site or blog. So the idea is to get the reader to click on that link which will then lead them to your web site or blog that will give them the ability to click on the link to get to the Affiliate eBook site.

5. Promote The eBook Through A Google Ad Campaign

Google ad campaigns can be very effective for promoting affiliate eBooks. For example, you can use Google AdWords to create ads for the Affiliate eBooks that will run based on the keywords that are chosen. So when a user does a search in Google and your ad is displayed, the user can click on the ad and then be taken to the pitch page for the affiliate eBook.
