Effective Student Marketing Releases Career Services eBook

Andover, MA (PRWEB) June 16, 2011

Effective Student Marketing’s new eBook, “17 Tips for Connecting Career Services and Social Media” was released at the APSCU Annual Convention in Texas. The eBook was announced as part of Effective Student Marketing’s breakout session, “How Social Media and Online Communities Can Lead to Gainful Employment for Your Students.”

“We’re strong believers in using social media wherever it will help your students and graduates,” said Andy Kelley, president of Effective Student Marketing. “We want to teach schools to embrace it and begin using it beyond the marketing and admissions departments. This is a great place to start.”

The eBook provides schools with seventeen specific tips that they can act on right away to begin using social media more effectively. The tips cover social media sites and tools including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and blogs.

“You may not think of Facebook or Twitter right away when you think of Career Services. But those are the places where your students and graduates are already active. You need to join the conversation rather than try to move it someplace else, like to LinkedIn,” explained Kelley.

The APSCU breakout session presentation covered similar topics and information and included a Career Services and social media case study from Charter College. The school has ten campuses in three states and online and needed a place to reach all of its students and graduates. Social media was a good fit.

“We were already seeing success with Charter College’s other social media presence, so we worked with them to branch out and include Career Services information as well,” Kelley said.

The eBook is available for free download at http://www.effectivestudentmarketing.com/ebook

AuthorHouse Releases eBook of Bob Hammel’s Perfect

Combination of Two Books Chronicles IU Basketball's Greatest Era: 1974-75 Rise to No. 1, Perfect 1975-76 Season

Bloomington, ID (Vocus/PRWEB) April 02, 2011

AuthorHouse, the leading provider of self-publishing and marketing services for authors around the globe, has released for the first time ever in eBook format Perfect: Bob Knight & Indiana’s Two Year Quest – sports journalist and Bob Knight biographer Bob Hammel’s contemporary account of the Indiana Hoosiers' spectacular but ill-fated 1974-75 season and the 1975-76 championship season, college basketball's last "perfect season." The 35th anniversary edition includes a revised foreword from Hammel that looks back on the historic feat and suggests a team today would have a less difficult, not more difficult, than the '76 Hoosiers overcame.

Tournaments were unseeded in 1976, so Indiana ran through a tournament route that included teams that today, Hammel speculates, would have been no worse than Nos. 6, 2, 1, 2 and 3 -- and possibly 5-2-1-1-3.

“Today, champions must play six games,” Hammel writes, “but a No. 1 seed at best would meet a 16 seed in the first round, 8 in the second, 4 in the third, then possibly 2-1-1 in the last three.”

And that Indiana team did it with the pressures of an unbeaten season and yearlong No. 1 ranking as a bullseye on its back.

Included in Indiana's 1976 tournament run was the only regional meeting ever of teams that ended the regular season ranked 1 and 2 (Marquette No. 2). That pre-Final Four collision led to the introduction of national tournament seeding in 1979, Hammel says.

The re-release of Hammel’s retrospectives comes after Indiana’s third consecutive season without an NCAA Tournament invitation – the longest such drought since a 30-year-old coach named Bob Knight arrived in Bloomington as the university opened its brand new basketball home, Assembly Hall. There had been four such years then. In Bloomington today, at now-hallowed Assembly Hall, hope is alive that in-state recruiting successes and pledges to Coach Tom Crean promise a bright light at the end of the present tunnel. As "Perfect" shows, it can happen -- because it has.
